I employ the dragon motive as a symbol – leaving the body of a porcelain vase and having the dragon fall asleep curled up around its bottom edge – a symbol of energy and spiritual force of the empire that originally filled the entire space. In Europe the dragon is seen as dangerous, but in the Asian tradition it is viewed as a possitive creature, symbol of fertility and vitality.
